Map of First Road Trip

This is my first long haul road trip. I took about 30 gallons of WVO with me. However, at 80+ mph on the interstate, the fuel economy is not as good as I was expecting. I got around 40 mpg on WVO (compared to around 44 mpg on diesel). It is 1410 miles roundtrip so I ran out of WVO with about 200 miles left and had to finish on diesel. I live near Washington DC and had a business trip down to the Sub base in Georgia. I stopped by to visit the parents in Nellysford Virginia on the way back. Note: at lower speeds the fuel economy is much better.

The second time I made this trip, I took 40 gallons with me. This did the trick and I made it back on WVO with plenty to spare.

Here are my empties after a trip. I think it may be worth it to buy some quality containers and avoid some mess.
